The online Lithuanian language & culture winter course is taking place on 4–29 January. 26 students have joined the course from 13 different countries, including Australia, Austria, Denmark, India, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, France, Russia, Finland, Hungary, and Denmark. 6 students will participate in the two-week studies (4–15 January) while 20 students will study for a month (4–29 January).
Under the project Lithuanian Academic Scheme for International Cooperation in the Baltic Studies, five students have joined the course and will study for two weeks. The Education Exchanges Support Foundation is funding month-long studies for thirteen students.
Split into 5 proficiency level groups, students will study Lithuanian for four daily academic hours.
A cultural programme is also available and students will listen to lectures on Vilnius University, Lithuanian history, Lithuanian language, old culture (old music instruments, national dresses, traditions), daily-life culture, sociolinguistic situation of Lithuania, social and political life, Lithuanian nature and its protected areas, architecture of Vilnius, and they will also attend a lecture-guided tour from the MO Museum.
