The Lithuanian language and culture online summer course is underway on 5 to 30 July. 42 students have joined the course from 19 countries, Belarus, Great Britain, Egypt, Estonia, India, Italy, USA, Canada, China, Latvia, Poland, France, Russia, Georgia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Hungary, Vietnam, and Germany. Students are mainly from Latvia, Poland, and Russia.
THE SUMMER COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE.
The two & four-week summer course will start on 5 July 2021 for which one can sign up until 30 June 2021. Classes will be held via Microsoft Teams. Detailed information on the two & four-week online summer courses is available here.

Students, professors, and researchers of foreign institutions of higher education as well as individuals of Lithuanian descent can submit their applications to the Lithuanian language online summer course in July 2021. Applications can be submitted here until 6 April 2021 local time (+2GMT).
The online Lithuanian language & culture winter course is taking place on 4–29 January. 26 students have joined the course from 13 different countries, including Australia, Austria, Denmark, India, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, France, Russia, Finland, Hungary, and Denmark. 6 students will participate in the two-week studies (4–15 January) while 20 students will study for a month (4–29 January).
A new website has been launched this week which introduces a new short online Lithuanian language course.
For the first time ever, the Department of Lithuanian Studies will hold a two-week and four-week Lithuanian language & culture winter course online.
In view of the threat of the spread of COVID-19 infection, the decisions of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to declare quarantine and to protect the health of our community members, the coronavirus prevention team decided that all activities at the university by 31 December should be continued remotely.
Meanwhile, the Senate of Vilnius University has decided that all study activities at the university will be carried out remotely by the end of this autumn semester.
The Department of Lithuanian Studies offers three types of Lithuanian language courses, the semester course, evening course, and free mover course starting in September 2020.
After long deliberations, having assessed the COVID-19 related risks and with regard to the recommendations of the COVID-19 risk management group of Vilnius University, we have come to a decision not to organise the Lithuanian language summer course in the summer 2020.
